![]() webtrees is an active project, with a VERY busy development team, and some amazing plans for its future. PGV, sadly, is in a state of "stasis" if not actual decline. Last release was almost 12 months ago, no active development, a growing list of unanswered bug reports, little support, etc. ![]() Hopefully it will be revived at some point, as it is a great product and we all owe much to its early success. I have just created a Joomla website for members of a musical production company and I can see the benefits of a dynamic CMS when it comes to managing content. I already have a bespoke family history website that includes PGV and Galler圓. PGV and Galler圓 originally used inline frames, now only PGV does so that Gallery is spawned out to a new browser session so that the user can view images and use PGV at the same time. I have three more family history web sites to start from scratch and I am happy to discard all previous approaches for better ones. My recent experience with Joonla was a good one. for me, Joomla integration would be a welcome thing should anyone else be wondering if there is any further interest out there. I can't code but I would be more than happy to test and/or document from whichever direction it proceeds. Meanwhile I'm going to check out jFusion. The only important integration for me will be single user logon (Joomla/webtrees/Gallery) and that will be my focus. Until then I'm going to try wrappers/iframes for webtrees in a Joomla test site and let everyone know how I get on. Wrapper page for new menu item straightforward Please Log in or Create an account to join the conversation. Setting up webtrees felt a bit different compared to previous installations of PGV but essentially the same information, ordered slightly differently. Personally I felt the old PGV Database Connection step much more sensible having all the info including the database name up-front rather than on the next page (you don't know that when entering user/pass). However this is a one-off, inconsequential and soon passed. The only thing I don't like about this Joomla Wrapper solution is that I need to find a variable width template. (The only template that's available is webtrees whatever other template I select, including clouds). There's simply too much real-estate wasted. I also don't like the two vertical scroll bars (outer one for the Joomla Page inner one for scrolling the webtrees content within the wrapper). ![]() ![]() Other than that everything appears working OK (except template selection which I shall bottom-out next). The demo (Kennedy Family) appears to be webtrees in a Joomla wrapper looks good so I'm guessing that the variable width and vertical scroll bar issue is solveable for my site also (The demo sitte allowed me to select clouds and that seemed variable too so I must look again at settings). Horizontal menu item "Genealogy" which I'd like to emulate. Ricm wrote: Setting up Joomla was a breeze. Used 1.5.20 rather than the latest 1.5.22. Just an observation, but that seems an odd thing to do.
